Ingredients

  • Pancake Batter
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cups milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • For Cooking
  • Butter or neutral oil for the pan
  • Optional Toppings
  • Maple syrup
  • Fresh berries
  • Sliced bananas
  • Powdered sugar
  • Whipped cream
  • Chopped nuts

Method

  1. Step 1: Combine the Dry Ingredients
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
  4. In a separate bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
  5. Step 3: Make the Batter
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  7. Stir gently until just combined. A few small lumps are perfectly fine.
  8. Step 4: Let the Batter Rest
  9. Allow the batter to sit for 5 minutes while you heat your skillet or griddle.
  10. This short rest helps create a lighter texture.
  11. Step 5: Heat the Pan
  12. Warm a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil.
  13. Step 6: Cook the Pancakes
  14. Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto the hot surface for each pancake.
  15. Cook until bubbles begin forming on the surface and the edges start to look set.
  16. Flip once and cook for another minute or two until golden brown and fully cooked.
  17. Step 7: Serve
  18. Transfer to a plate and serve warm with your favorite toppings.
